Service learning to boost students' learning
Employers across a range of not-for-profit and volunteering sectors will soon be able to offer students an opportunity to do short internships as part of a new service-learning course available as a free-choice elective to all students at Griffith University.
Increasing opportunities to volunteer as a valued part of students’ studies is seen as a natural step in fulfiling Griffith’s commitment to being a leader in work-integrated learning curriculum, and also in its role in contributing to its community.

QR codes part of your promotional materials?
By now, you have probably noticed quick response (QR) codes, those squares that contain what look like pixilated Rorschach tests that are popping up on everything, from magazine ads to cereal boxes. They are also starting to appear on marketing materials around the University, so forward thinking graduate recruiters may want to be considering QR codes for graduate marketing campaigns.
As a consumer, when you see something that interests you containing a QR code, you no longer have to make a mental note to look it up later via Google. You can simply point your smartphone at the object and obtain the desired information without typing or speaking. In essence, the QR code has become the shortest distance between curiosity and information retrieval.

Industry Affiliates Program attracts the right talent for your business
For many decades, leading organisations have recognised the relationship between high performance and how successfully they have attracted and retained the most talented individuals. Workforce attraction strategies such as graduate and work experience programs have often been used by these organisations to nurture innovation and establish a high performance culture.
For many employers, work integrated learning programs are seen as an excellent way to ‘try before you buy’ – getting to know the skills, abilities and motivations of a potential employee before you enter a contract of employment with them. Likewise, it gives the student the opportunity to decide if the organisation is right for them while developing personal workplace skills that make them a better candidate when competing for graduate positions.
The Griffith University Industry Affiliates Program (IAP) is a work-integrated learning program designed to integrate students into the workplace. Read more | | | | | | | | | | | |

Meet bid volunteer Jessica
Meet Jessica Hutton, the bubbly Griffith University student and Bid Volunteer Coordinator who is helping spread the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games bid message.

Some Gold Coast locals may have already met Jessica as she has been busily travelling around the city distributing posters and stickers to local businesses and encouraging everyone to 'get behind the bid’.
